If you plan home staging, renovation repairs, or 3D property visualizations, CAD file bundles allow you to import 2D and 3D floor plans into third-party design software.
Available CAD File Formats
When you order a CAD file bundle, you receive a package containing the following file formats:
2D CAD file:
.dwg3D CAD file:
.dwgCollada file:
.dae3D Interchange file:
.fbxWavefront 3D file:
.obj
Note: If the specific file format you need is not listed above, please contact customer support to see if it can be produced.
Package Requirements and Feature Compatibility
CAD files represent the basic structure of the floor plan, including the property outline, walls, doors, and windows.
Package Availability: CAD files are strictly available for the PLUS and PLUS 3D packages.
3D Files Included: The CAD bundle contains 3D files even if you did not order the PLUS 3D package.
Fixed Furniture: Included in all CAD files.
Loose Furniture: Not included in any CAD file.
Colors & Textures: Not included in any CAD file.
Labels and Dimensions: Text labels and visible dimension lines are not included in CAD files.
How Dimensional Data and Measurements Work in CAD Files
CAD files contain all necessary dimensional data embedded by default. When you select an element within your CAD software, its precise size is readily available.
Visible "dimension lines" are omitted from the files to ensure maximum compatibility and flexibility across different design tools and user preferences.
How to Measure Distances Between Points in CAD Software
While specific objects (such as doors) do not display explicit dimension text, the underlying 3D model contains full dimensional info. You can measure any distance manually:
Import your 3D CAD file (
.dae,.fbx, or.obj) into your preferred software (such as SketchUp).Select the software's native measuring or tape measure tool.
Click point A and point B on any structure or opening (such as a door frame height or width) to view the exact measurement.
Note: If you need assistance adding visible dimension lines to your project, please contact the support team for your specific CAD software.
Third-Party Software Compatibility and Support Limits
Faulty Files: If you encounter trouble opening files or if a file appears faulty in a specific program, contact support so the issue can be investigated and corrected.
Software Assistance: Support is not provided for operating or manipulating third-party software. For help navigating or editing files within your design program, contact the software publisher's support team.
