Maximum Scan Size & Handling Large Properties

Learn the recommended maximum scan size, tips for preparing your device, and iOS-specific workarounds for scanning large properties without crashes.

Maximum Scan Size

For the best accuracy, we recommend scanning buildings up to 10,000 sq ft / 900 m².

That said, we've had successful scans for properties up to 50,000 sq ft. To maximise your chances of a successful large scan, make sure to:

  • Keep your app updated to the latest version.

  • Close all background apps before starting the scan.

  • Ensure your device has sufficient storage available.

  • Use a recent, well-performing device.

iOS Only — Handling Long Scans, Large Properties & Preventing Crashes

Long scans can be demanding on device memory. CubiCasa has built-in features to help you get a smooth, successful result without losing your progress. Here are two highly effective workarounds:

1. Scan and Save in Parts

Instead of capturing a large property all at once, break it into smaller sections:

  1. Scan for a few minutes.

  2. End the scan to save your progress.

  3. Resume scanning from where you left off, making sure to relocate and re-align so the sections stitch together correctly.

  4. Repeat until the entire property is covered.

  5. Only send for processing once you've scanned everything.

💡 If the app crashes, you can pick up from your last save point instead of restarting the entire scan.

2. Turn Off "Show Mesh" (LiDAR Devices Only)

If you're using a LiDAR device, rendering the mesh live on screen uses significant processing power. Turning it off keeps your device running smoothly.

To disable it: Profile → Application Settings → toggle off "Show mesh while scanning"

✅ Turning off Show Mesh does not affect your final model quality — it only reduces memory usage while scanning.
