Starting your scan correctly sets you up for a flawless floor plan. 🏡 Whether you are scanning a small apartment or a multi-story home, following a few simple best practices will ensure your video processes smoothly.
Important: You must scan your entire property in one continuous scan. We cannot merge multiple videos together to create a single floor plan.
Step-by-step starting guide
To get the best results right from the moment you hit record, follow these steps:
Start your scan on the lowest floor of the property. We recommend starting right at the main entrance, but you can choose whichever starting point works best for the building's layout.
Hold your camera steady at chest height and point it forward in your walking direction.
Walk at a normal, comfortable pace.
Maintain a distance of 5 to 11 feet (1.5 to 3 meters) from objects and walls as you move.
Scan one floor completely before moving to the next.
Work your way upwards through the building.
Review your completed scan before uploading to ensure no spaces or rooms were missed.
The "One Scan" rule and billing
It is crucial that your entire property is captured in a single, uninterrupted video.
Important: If you submit more than one scan per property, we will charge you based on the total number of scans you have submitted.

Scanning detached areas and outbuildings
If the property you are scanning includes outdoor elements like a porch, or detached buildings like a separate garage or shed, these must be included in your one continuous scan.
