When generating floor plans, you may need to display the room dimensions and total area in feet, meters, or a combination of both. You can easily define your preferred measurement units and adjust how the numbers are rounded by using the styling tool in the web portal.
How to Set Your Measurement Units
To change the units displayed on your floor plans, follow these steps:
Log in to the web portal.
Click on Styling in the menu on the left side of the screen.
Click on Create Style to make a new template, or click on the three dots (⋯) and select View to edit an existing style.
Choose your preferred measurement unit: metric, imperial, or both.
Save your settings.
Measurement Unit Options
Important: The unit option you choose will affect both the room measurements AND the total area calculation.
You have three options for displaying measurements on your plans:
Metric: Plans will be rendered using the metric system (for example, 2.5m x 1.8m).
Imperial: Plans will be rendered using the imperial system of feet and inches (for example, 7’6″ x 3’4″).
Both: Plans will be generated showing both metric and imperial units.
Note: Remember that for each plan, you can always download copies with no measurements printed at all.
How to Customize Measurement Rounding
Depending on the measurement system you choose, you can dictate how specific the numbers appear on the final floor plan.
Metric System Rounding Options
For metric units, you simply define the number of decimals you would like. For example, a measurement of 7 meters and 13 centimeters can be displayed as:
No decimals (e.g., 7m)
One decimal (e.g., 7.1m)
Two decimals (e.g., 7.13m)
Note: We recommend using only 1 decimal. Having no decimals might be too vague, and using 1 decimal is detailed enough for future owners to evaluate how things will fit while keeping the plan easy to read.
Imperial System Rounding Options
Preferences for imperial measurements vary, so you can choose from the following rounding options. For example, a measurement of 7 feet 4 inches can be displayed to the:
Closest inch (e.g., 7'4) — Note: This is the default value.
Closest tenth of a foot (e.g., 7.3)
Closest half foot (e.g., 7 1/2)
Closest foot (e.g., 7)
How to Configure Area Display
Within the Edit Style menu, you can also dictate how individual room dimensions and total square footage are presented using the Area display dropdown.
You have three options to choose from:
Dimensions only: Displays the room's length and width (e.g., 15'8" x 11'4").
Dimensions and area: Displays both the length/width and the total area of the space (e.g., 15'8" x 11'4", 178 sq. ft).
Area only: Displays only the total area of the space (e.g., 178 sq. ft).
