When you export a floor plan to print or view on a screen, you need to know its scale to plan your space accurately. Because file exports automatically adjust to fit your screen or paper size, finding your specific scale requires a quick physical measurement.
Understanding Your Floor Plan Scale
Important: At the moment, there is no specific, fixed scale for the exported floor plans (like 1:50 or 1:100).
Instead, the files are automatically scaled to the maximum fit for the largest floor in your project. Note: All other floors in your project are exported on the exact same scale as that largest floor.
While floor plans are initially drawn at a ratio of 1 pixel to 1 cm, the final file automatically adjusts its size to fit your page or screen when exported. Because everything in the drawing is kept perfectly in proportion, you can easily calculate the custom scale for your specific monitor or printed page.
How to Calculate Your Custom Scale
To find the exact scale of your current printout or screen view, follow these steps:
Pick a room: Find a rectangular room on your exported floor plan that includes a printed measurement (for example, 3,62 m).
Measure it physically: Take a physical ruler and measure the width or length of that specific room directly on your printed paper or monitor screen.
Find your ratio: Compare your physical measurement to the printed measurement. If that distance measures exactly 10 cm on your ruler, then your specific printout has a scale where 10 cm = 3,62 m.
Apply it everywhere: Because the plan is perfectly proportional, if you add the measurement for one space, all the rest of the plan will follow that exact same scale.
Note: For a future release, we are looking into adding a visual scale indicator directly to the floor plan so that you can properly reuse it elsewhere without having to calculate it yourself.
