Why am I seeing a "No depth data" warning for my scan?
You are seeing this warning because your iPhone Pro is equipped with a LiDAR scanner (Light Detection and Ranging) but it failed to record any depth information during this particular scan.
The LiDAR scanner is designed to capture precise depth data, which improves the accuracy of the resulting floor plan. Without this data, the scan can only be processed as a standard, non-LiDAR scan, which may lead to reduced accuracy in your floor plan's measurements and layout by 1-2%. However, please be assured that scans processed without LiDAR data are still highly accurate and are widely used for reliable floor plan creation.
The warning looks like this on the preview screen:
What can I do to fix this?
Follow these steps to ensure your device is able to capture depth data in your next scan:
1. Check for Obstructions
The most common cause is a blocked sensor.
Locate the LiDAR Scanner: The LiDAR scanner is the dark dot located on the bottom-right of your iPhone's camera group.
Remove Protectors: Make sure nothing is obstructing the LiDAR scanner or any of the cameras. This includes removing any lens protectors or examining the device case to ensure it doesn't partially cover the scanner.
2. Retest Your Device
Try Again: Attempt to make a new scan right away to see if the depth information is recorded this time.
Restart: If the issue persists, restart your iPhone completely before trying another scan. A quick reboot can often resolve temporary software glitches affecting the sensor.
3. Verify LiDAR Functionality
You can use a built-in iOS app to check if the LiDAR scanner itself is working properly:
Open the Measure app on your iPhone.
Use the app's People Detection feature to measure a person's height.
If the app successfully detects and displays the person's height, your LiDAR scanner is likely working.
If the app says "Height is unavailable," or shows no reading at all, this is a strong indication that the device's LiDAR scanner is not functioning correctly.
If you've followed all the steps above, including restarting your device, and the Measure app still fails to detect height, there may be a technical problem with your iPhone's hardware. In this case, you will need to contact Apple Support or visit an authorized service provider to have your device inspected and repaired.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue and you still receive the "No depth data" warning on new scans, please contact our support team at help@cubicasa.com for further investigation.
